Day vs Night

Currently, America follows the Roman calendar which denotes a day as having 24 hours. Unfortunately, that is in disagreement with YAH's calendar. However, just as was prophesized in Daniel 7:23-25, other nations have thought to change days, times, and seasons.

The Gregorian calendar, introduced in the 16th century as a modification of the Julian calendar, which was itself a modification of the ancient Roman calendar...It is a purely solar calendar, with a cycle of leap days in a 400-year cycle designed to keep the duration of the year aligned with the solar year. Each Gregorian year has either 365 or 366 days (the leap day being inserted as 29 February), amounting to an average Gregorian year of 365.2425 days (compared to a solar year of 365.2422 days). It was introduced in 1582 as a refinement to the Julian calendar which had been in use throughout the European Middle Ages, amounting to a 0.002% correction in the length of the year...Not all calendars use the solar year as a unit".

For example, "a lunar calendar is one in which days are numbered within each lunar phase cycle. Because the length of the lunar month is not an even fraction of the length of the tropical year, a purely lunar calendar quickly drifts against the seasons, which don't vary much near the equator. It does, however, stay constant with respect to other phenomena, notably tides".....

Another example is a lunisolar calendar. "A lunar calendar...compensates by adding an extra month as needed to realign the months with the seasons.

An example is the Hebrew calendar which uses a 19-year cycle.....Nearly all calendar systems group consecutive days into "months" and also into "years".

In a solar calendar a year approximates Earth's tropical year (that is, the time it takes for a complete cycle of seasons), traditionally used to facilitate the planning of agricultural activities.

In a lunar calendar, the month approximates the cycle of the moon phase. Consecutive days may be grouped into other periods such as the week".

"Because the number of days in the tropical year is not a whole number, a solar calendar must have a different number of days in different years. This may be handled, for example, by adding an extra day in leap years.

The same applies to months in a lunar calendar and also the number of months in a year in a lunisolar calendar. This is generally known as intercalation.

Even if a calendar is solar, but not lunar, the year cannot be divided entirely into months that never vary in length" (Wikipedia, Retrieved 05Apr2016 from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calendar).

  1. And Elohim said, Let there be light: and there was light. And Elohim saw the light, that it was good: and Elohim divided the light from the darkness. And Elohim called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day (Gen 1:3-5).

  2. And Elohim said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.   And Elohim made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And Elohim set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and Elohim saw that it was good (Gen 1:14-18).

  3. And on the seventh day Elohim ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And Elohim blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which Elohim created and made. These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that YAHWEH Elohim made the earth and the heavens (Gen 2:2-4).

  4. And YAHWEH said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years (Gen 6:3).

And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein. And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto YAHWEH: to day ye shall not find it in the field. Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none. And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.  And YAHWEH said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? See, for that YAHWEH hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. So the people rested on the seventh day (Exo 16:23-30).

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which YAHWEH thy Elohim giveth thee (Exo 20:8-12).

  9. Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed (Exo 23:12).

  10. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to YAHWEH: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Wherefore the children of YisraEl shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days YAHWEH made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed (Exo 31:15-17).

And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked. And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them. And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded (1Ki 18:26-29).
